April Six Word Story Photo Challenge: “Life”
Move over, Grief! Joy, fast approaching!
Meet, Happy, a four-year-old black Labrador who pees on the floor from pure elation when I arrive at my client’s house every morning.
As soon as I walk through the door, she welcomes me with a tail wag so fierce she’s unable to control her back end. She then races me to the top of the stairs, where she lets out a loud, loving howl and insists on oodles of attention before letting me pass to help my client with Parkinson’s out of bed.
As a Caregiver, some days at work are demanding (humble understatement) But, most days? I can’t believe I get paid to do something that has brought immeasurable joy to my life for the last five years, i.e., helping humans, being kind, and deeply connecting with them.
I’m moving out of my parent’s house next week.
Yes, it’s true! You read that right. All of my groveling about not having a place to call my own and how trying the last three years have been is ending.
